A Bit of RVWC History

 

Roanoke Valley Wine Company was established in 1994 by Rob & Beth Crittenden. Rob and Beth moved from their native Virginia to Seattle after marrying in 1985. As wine enthusiasts, they made their way around the Washington and Oregon wineries, touring, tasting, lending a hand during crush and generally being wine geeks. They got to know many of the winery owners and winemakers and became a part of the Northwest wine community. After the birth of their kids, Katie and Matt, they decided to move back home to Virginia to be closer to their families.

 

Once in Roanoke, they realized the Northwest wines they had come to love were not available in Virginia, so they decided to import and distribute the wines themselves.

With Beth's background in communications and public relations, and Rob's background in international sales, they had no experience in the wine industry. Passion, hard work and friends and family, generous with their offers to help unload trucks, make deliveries or watch the children, made it possible to grow the business. As RVWC grew from its Northwest wine roots, selections were added from California, France, Spain, Australia, Italy, Germany, New Zealand, Austria and many other wine-growing regions.

 

Rob and Beth have been blessed to be able to hire talented sales reps, delivery drivers, customer service reps and warehouse staff who continue to work together to bring the finest portfolio of wines to retailers and restaurateurs throughout Virginia, West Virginia and Washington D.C.
